Positive business result 2018
We are proud to have closed the 2018 financial year with a positive earnings, even though it was difficult year for European module manufacturers. For the second consecutive year, we can proudly report positive earnings. The total production volume in 2018 remained constant at the previous year's level at just over 70 MWp.
More over an increase of 100 percent was achieved in the retail business. Benelux, only one year after market entry, already contributes 1/3 of the retail business.
The expansion of sales activities in Scandinavia is also progressing. A cooperation with EON and their wholesaler Solarsupply was started at the end of 2018. Sonnenstromfabrik scores with sustainable products and its CO-2 optimized production processes. An important gap in the market was also closed with the specially developed snow load solar modules.
The market entry in Switzerland with building-integrated Solrif modules, that have been produced exclusively for Ernst Schweizer AG, the owner of the Solrif system, was also very successful. Thanks to new strategic sales partnerships with important key accounts, sales volumes in Switzerland nicely increased compared to the previous year.
We expect a continuous positive business development in 2019. Major projects in the low carbon segment in France, which are due for realization in the second half of 2019, will also contribute to this. Here Sonnenstromfabrik is set as module supplier.
Our business performance proves that a sustainable business development is possible even after the expiry of the regulation on minimum import prices. We have a lean structure, a differentiated product portfolio and stand out clearly from the standard modules on the market. This is an ideal positioning in view of the increased quality awareness of end customers. As a distribution partner, you also benefit from our geographical proximity. From our production site in Wismar, we can deliver quickly within entire Europe.
