Sustainability is becoming more important

Sustainability and environmental protection are being discussed more and more urgently and vigorously. In many cases, however, the idea of sustainability is not thought through to the end. Solar modules are a good example of this. For cost reasons, they are mainly manufactured in countries where environmental protection is of secondary importance.
Products from low-cost suppliers in Asia are mostly harmful to sustainability. With a cover of 50 % of the energy requirement of a family from PV plants with Low carbon solar modules, approx. 0.75 tons CO₂ per year can be saved in comparison to cheap products from Asia. These are 30 tons CO₂ during a lifetime of 40 years.
Considering the ecological amortization, the comparison is just as drastic. The production of a 5 KWp plant with Chinese modules requires approx. 3.8 tons CO2. Such a system has paid itself off ecologically after 5 years. The remaining lifetime of the module is approx. 15 years.
For comparison: The production of a 5 KWp plant with solar power factory modules requires only approx. 1.3 tons of CO2. The system amortizes itself ecologically already after approx. 2 years. The remaining lifetime is about 23 years for glass/foil modules and even 38 years for glass/glass modules.
This comparison shows that sustainability pays off. Further information can be found on our fact sheet under https://www.sonnenstromfabrik.com/knowhow/en/sustainability.html
